MORROW Intelligence’s (MI) Managing Director Saravanan Sugumaran spoke on the importance of introducing foresight and scenario tools for strategic urban planning with officials and planners from Guanajuato.

The webinar kicked off a 3-part masterclass series on urban planning and development for the State of Guanajuato, Mexico, organised in collaboration with Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) and the Institute for Planning, Statistics and Geography of Guanajuato.

Our Discussions

Saravanan illustrated how foresight addresses uncertainty – rather than predicting the future, it helps to unravel the complexities of urban systems from different lenses, so that resilient strategies can be developed. Singapore’s Long-Term Plan was one example that was shared.

Discerning trends and scenarios through a participatory manner reduces biases and stress-tests our assumptions. Citing MI’s recent foresight workshops for the Fiji Ministry of Local Government and Archifest, Saravanan showed how an immersive approach unveiled multi-faceted, actionable insights that empower robust decision-making.
